 +To use the operating system SLES (SUSE Linux Enterprise Server) the GWDG provides low cost licenses that are made possible due to large bulk orders at the company [[http://www.suse.de/|SUSE]]. This allows to extend existing or to purchase new licenses.

 +===== Usage Restrictions =====

 +The licenses can only be used for computers of the Max Planck Society, the University of Göttingen and the GWDG for x86 / AMD64 / Intel EM64T / Itanium / IBM PowerPC systems.

 +===== License period and costs =====

 +A license period is five years and currently covers the period from 01.05.2013 until 30.04.2018.

 +The cost per license per year during this period do not include 19 % VAT as follows:

 +1-2 Sockets - HPC: 16,20 EUR / year, Server: 97.20 EUR / year \\
 +4 sockets - HPC: 32.40 EUR / year, Server: 194.40 EUR / year \\
 +8 sockets - HPC 54,00 EUR / year, Server: 324.00 EUR / year

 +HA functionality costs additionally 66,00 EUR for 1-2 Sockets and per year.

 +HPC cluster nodes are systems that are fitted with an identical configuration in a cluster with at least 8 nodes.

 +Please do not forget to specify the number of licenses required and the billing address in both cases.

 +Upon receipt of the order by e-mail, you will receive a confirmation by e-mail followed by the bill in the mail. After receipt of the order by letter or fax the invoice serves as confirmation.

 +**ATTENTION**: If a license should be extended over the license period, a new appointment for the next license period is required.
