Hardware Purchase

Dell hardware framework agreement

For several years, the procurement of particularly frequently used IT components is handled in the University of Göttingen and in further institutions together with framework agreements. The advantages of this method are known:

  • Guaranteed and low prices
  • No expenses for a (extensive) procurement process; instead simple order from the framework agreement
  • Uniform regulation of maintenance and replacement
  • Reduced support costs through standardization of components

In a Europe-wide tender, the GWDG has performed in behalf of the Georg-August-University and 21 other institutions in Göttingen and Lower Saxony, a new framework agreement in 2017 with the company Dell was chosen because of the economic offer among five bidders.

The framework agreement has a term from 1. May 2017 to 31. August 2019 with the option to extend to two times of 12 months.

The order terms and the service are handled analogous to the methods of the previous framework agreement with Dell. In particular, the deals can be found under the new framework agreement on the known sites still directly connected to the purchasing system EBP of Göttingen University. For more information on ordering please contact Stefan Bodmann in the central purchasing of the University Göttingen. The orders of the other institutions can be regulated individually.

Apple framework contract for the University of Göttingen

After the previous framework contract for hardware and software products from Apple with the company Computacenter (formerly HSD Consult) expired after four years, a framework contract with CANCOM SE was directly connected on 01.03.2015.

In a survey of the universities of Lower Saxony a significant demand for Apple products was found, which justified the conclusion of another common framework contract. After a European tender CANCOM GmbH, based in Jettingen-Scheppach, was selected as the bidder with the most economical offer in December 2014. The GWDG led then on behalf of the participating universities in Lower Saxony with CANCOM the necessary negotiations that led to the current framework agreement.

Over this framework agreement all standard notebooks, PCs and servers from Apple can be purchased with a fixed discount rate over the applicable Apple price list. This discount rate is different for the different product groups.

For other groups such as iPad and iPhone, as well as for software discounts on each individual product have been agreed. Likewise, reduced unit prices are fixed for accessories and memory upgrades. An important component of the framework contract relates to the different possible extensions of the period of guarantee to 36 or 60 months. The costs associated with this warranty maintenance services are provided by technicians from the CANCOM (on site too).

For this framework contract CANCOM has established a webshop under the URL in which the desired products and services can be selected. The offers can be created and sent by email to the customer.

To gain access to this website, a special account is required. You can obtain this account from the Cancom Team Niedersachsen: If you want to contact please use an email address of the University of Göttingen.

The actual order with this offer must be made then in the usual way in the respective institutions.

For the University of Göttingen the previously required inspection by the Commission for review of procurement of information and communications technology (IuK-Kommission) does not apply when using the framework contract.

The contract has a term of four years and expires at the latest on 28.02.2019.

Note: As the new contract has not been accepted yet, the current framework contract has been extended until 31.03!
