E-Mail Service (MS Exchange) - In progress

The Microsoft Exchange Server provides multiple access options for different email applications. The following applications include:

• Outlook 2024
• Outlook for Mac
• Various mobile email apps

To communicate with the Exchange server, applications must support a secure connection to the server.

Some general limitations apply to mailboxes:

• Default mailbox size: 10 GB
• Maximum number of sent emails: 500 emails within 24 hours

If a higher limit is needed, it can be requested via support: support@gwdg.de

If no suitable email client is available, the mailbox can also be accessed via Outlook Web Access (OWA).

When logging in, the domain name must be entered together with the username.

Examples: gwdg\userid

For students: ug-student\first.last

When logging in, you can choose whether the computer is treated as a private computer or a public/shared computer.

Recommended when using a personal device. Automatic logout occurs only after a longer period of inactivity.

Recommended for publicly accessible devices (e.g., internet cafés). Automatic logout occurs more quickly. Regardless of the setting, always log out using the “Sign out” button in the top right corner after use.
