Android
As a stable alternative to the Gmail app, the K-9 Mail app can be used for Android devices.
Depending on the manufacturer and Android version, both the process and the setup settings may slightly deviate from the following description.
Configuration
After the installation of the app, click on “Start”:
Enter your email (example: m.musterfrau@gwdg.de) and press “Next”:
The message “Configuration not found” will follow, then press “Next”:
Please enter the following information in the Incoming server settings:

Port: | 993 |
Authentication: | Normales password |
Username: | Your E-Mail account (e.g. m.musterfrau@gwdg.de) |
Password: | Your password to your E-Mail Account |

Check the boxes accourding to the following screenshot:
Please enter the following information in the Outgoing server settings:
Server: | email.gwdg.de |
Security: | StartTLS |
Port: | 587 |
Authentication: | Normal password |
Username: | Your E-Mail account (e.g. m.musterfrau@gwdg.de) |
Password: | Your password to your E-Mail Account |
Client certificate: | none |
Leave everything as the default settings and press “Next”:
Now you can sign in with your email address. You need to set up a Display name:
If needed, references can be configured:
If needed, permissions for the app can be set:
The configuration is complete and the service is ready for use.
